Terms and Conditions — Before the Bump
Please read carefully before accessing this course.
By enrolling in and accessing Before the Bump, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms.
- About This Course
Before the Bump is an educational programme created by Dr Tala Andoni and offered through The Magnolia Clinic. Dr Andoni is a qualified medical doctor with training in functional medicine. The course is designed to provide information, education, and general lifestyle guidance for individuals and couples preparing for pregnancy.
This course represents Dr Andoni's clinical perspective, informed by a blend of conventional and functional medicine, nutritional science, and behaviour change. Where referenced, emerging research is presented as such and is clearly distinguished from established clinical guidance.
The Magnolia Clinic provides virtual functional medicine services. Before the Bump sits within that ethos — supporting you to understand your body and make informed choices — but is an educational product, not a clinical service.
- This Course Is Not Medical Advice
The content of this course is educational in nature. It does not constitute personalised medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Nothing in this course should be interpreted as:
- A clinical consultation or replacement for one
- A diagnosis of any medical condition
- A personalised treatment plan
- A recommendation to start, stop, or change any medication or prescribed treatment
If you have questions about your own health, symptoms, or circumstances, please consult your GP or a qualified healthcare professional.
- I Am Not Your Doctor
By enrolling in this course, you understand that Dr Tala Andoni is not acting as your personal physician. No doctor-patient relationship is formed through your participation in this programme.
The guidance offered throughout this course is general in nature and may not be appropriate for every individual. Your own health circumstances, history, and needs are unique and may require personalised advice beyond the scope of this course.
- This Course Does Not Replace Your Doctor
This course is educational and does not replace your GP, specialist, or any other healthcare professional involved in your care. Please continue to seek and follow personalised medical advice throughout your preconception journey.
If you have been diagnosed with, or are being investigated for, any medical condition — including but not limited to PCOS, endometriosis, recurrent miscarriage, unexplained infertility, male factor infertility, thyroid conditions, autoimmune conditions, or diabetes — please do not delay or deprioritise specialist care on the basis of information contained in this programme.
- Functional Medicine
Some of the content in this course reflects a functional medicine approach. This sits alongside, and is intended to complement, conventional medical care — not replace it.
Where perspectives go beyond standard NHS or NICE guidance, these reflect Dr Andoni's clinical experience and interpretation of current research, and may not represent mainstream medical consensus.
- Emerging Research
Preconception health is a rapidly evolving field. Some content in this course draws on emerging research that, while promising, is not yet fully established in mainstream clinical practice. Dr Andoni has endeavoured to present such areas with appropriate context and caveats.
You are encouraged to discuss any specific topics with your own healthcare provider before making significant changes to your health routine.
- Dietary and Lifestyle Changes
General dietary and lifestyle suggestions in this course are intended as a starting point for reflection, not a prescriptive plan. Before making significant changes to your diet — particularly elimination diets, major changes to macronutrient intake, or introducing supplementation — we recommend seeking guidance from your GP, a registered dietitian, or a qualified nutritionist before doing so.
This course does not recommend stopping or changing any prescribed medication. If you have concerns about how a medication may interact with your preconception goals, please speak with the prescribing clinician.
- Educational Frameworks and Third-Party Perspectives
Some sections of this course draw on the work of third-party thinkers, researchers, and clinicians — including Dr Gabor Maté's frameworks around stress, trauma, and the mind-body connection. These are referenced for educational purposes and as one lens through which to understand whole-body health.
These perspectives are not presented as clinical doctrine. They represent one body of thought among many, and are offered to help you reflect on your own patterns and experience — not to diagnose, label, or define you.
Where frameworks go beyond mainstream medical consensus, this is intended to broaden your thinking, not replace clinical guidance.
- Mental and Emotional Wellbeing
Some sections of this course touch on themes including nervous system regulation, stress, emotional patterns, and early life experience. This content is offered in an educational and reflective spirit.
If anything in this course brings up something you would like to explore further — whether related to your mental health, past experiences, or emotional wellbeing — we encourage you to speak with a therapist or counsellor, or another trusted professional you feel safe with.
- Individual Variation
Health is not one-size-fits-all. What works well for one person may not be appropriate for another. Throughout this course, you are encouraged to take what is relevant to you, leave what isn't, and approach all suggestions with curiosity rather than pressure.
If you have any doubt about whether specific guidance applies to your situation, please seek personalised advice.
- Supplements
This course may reference nutritional supplements in an educational context. Please be aware that supplements can interact with prescribed medications and other treatments. Before taking any supplement, you must inform your GP and any other healthcare providers involved in your care.
Do not stop or adjust any prescribed medication on the basis of information in this course without first speaking to your prescribing clinician.
- Acute Symptoms
This course is not designed to address acute or urgent medical concerns. If at any point during your preconception journey you develop new or worsening symptoms, please contact your GP, call NHS 111, or in an emergency call 999. Do not delay seeking urgent care on the basis of anything contained in this programme.
- No Guaranteed Outcomes
Every person's health is unique. Factors including baseline health, duration of any underlying issues, genetics, lifestyle, and individual response all influence outcomes. While many people find that preconception preparation makes a meaningful difference, The Magnolia Clinic and Dr Tala Andoni cannot guarantee specific results from following the guidance in this course.
- No Liability
While every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy and quality of the information presented, Dr Tala Andoni and The Magnolia Clinic accept no liability for:
- Any action taken or not taken on the basis of this course
- Any adverse outcomes related to dietary, lifestyle, or behavioural changes made following this course
- Any inaccuracies in emerging research referenced within the programme
- Any delay in seeking medical care that results from information contained in this course
- The content of any third-party resources, websites, or works referenced within the programme
You participate in this course at your own discretion and responsibility.
- Intellectual Property
All content within this course — including videos, written materials, frameworks, and resources — is the intellectual property of Dr Tala Andoni. It may not be copied, shared, distributed, or reproduced without written permission.
- Updates and Changes
Medical guidance evolves. Dr Andoni reserves the right to update course content in line with new evidence and best practice. Where content is significantly updated, reasonable efforts will be made to communicate this to enrolled participants.
